Need advise on hood repair
I have experience with dent repair on cars with bondo and some small fiberglass repairs. This hood is plastic. At my buddies suggestion, I bought a tube of glazing putty. The actual tube says Ultra-violet Glazing and spot putty. I got it from O-reilly. So, I'm just supposed to feather the sharp edges, fill the cracks with putty, smooth, let dry and sand to a finish? Is that it? I'm just concerned about it not bonding to it and flaking out later. Can I just use some color matched automotive paint? Any advise would be appreciated

You can easily find a new hood on eBay. I wouldnt bother trying to fix

Is it a 2 part putty with hardener?
If they are just deep scratches and isn't actually cracked that will work. If cracked you will want to drill a small hole at the end of the cracks, V grind them and use a 2 part epoxy to repair then finish with the putty.

I think when he said "tube of putty" he means the old style lacquer putty, which is not any good. It shrinks to harden, and will fall out eventually.
Per speedskixp's recommendation, if it is a 2-part polyester material, which is basically a fine grain bondo, then it will work. It is ideal to finish it off, then spray on a primer surfacer to get a perfect finish before topcoating. Again, a 2-part primer surfacer is recommended.

Thanks for the advise guys. there are no actual cracks, just scratches and gouges. I'll return the tube I have and get the right stuff. I'll probably go to an actual body shop get there stuff. This is what happens when you're stupid and leave the ski at home during a hurricane. I'll never forgive myself for doing that. The ski floated up tied to the trailer and the garage door opener above it with all that sharp angle metal with punched holes used for bracing scraped the hood up and tore a big hole in the pad between the handle bars. I recovered it with new vinyl. The hood and gelcoat chips all along the side are whats left.
As far as a new hood goes, I see the same white one on EBAY for 350. If my hood was anymore damaged than this, I would probably get it. This is the wifes ski and she already told me she doesn't need it perfect.
