    More stability
    Better bouy boat
The shorties are designed for the SL hull and they are WAYYYY more than enough.
You can always go to the HS, Worx etc, style if you want more carving ability as the inserts will now be in your boat.
One down fall. No more spinouts and/or doughnuts!!!!!!!
Although you can remove them and install some type of cap (screw with rubber washer?) when you want to play.

The short ones are for non extended pump models and the long ones are for the longer extended pump models. I was thinking of replacing my pink sun faded ones on my SLX with a set of red ones I have stock piled in the basement. I looked at the SLX and then the SL with the kit installed and noticed the SLX has washers and the SL kit did not have washers. It appears that the SL will be getting washers in the spring as the heads are starting to pull through the plastic without washers in place.

Damn, that's awesome!!! I have to download these suckers, I couldn't find a set anywhere.
I find it interesting the longer sponsons are used on the extended pump as well. We only ever added the shorties but then again at the time they were all short pumps with only a few guys doing the extended pumps.
The 96 accessories guide also shows the shorties on all SL models and the long ones for the SLT hulls.
    Hmnnnn, great information polarisnut!!

OK, I took a few shots. I hope this helps. The inserts come with the factory kit and a tool to set them. I'm not sure how you would go about mounting aftermarket sponsons on a model that doesn't already have sponsons on it. Maybe use this template and find your own hardware. I'm hanging on to this hardware and hope to use it to install sea-doo HX sponsons on my Hurricane.

Try heating the pink ones with a propane torch or better yet a heat gun. the used set I got on e-bay went from Pink right back to red. Don't over heat as it will start to blister.
