    98 GSX Limited

First off I hope everyone had a great Christmas and SantaDoo was good to you. I'm looking at a 98 GSX Limited ($3500). I ride a Polaris now, so I'm not too schooled on the Seadoos's yet. So, without sounding like too much of a rookie, here's a few questions. Is this a 2 or 3 seater? It has 250 hours on it, not too sure if the top end has been redone or not (seller is closed until Jan 3, no info from them). I want to get something a little bigger than my SLX, does this sound like a good deal? It looks very clean.

it was the first true two seater. Is it gray and red? or red and purple? If its gray and red with a white motor walk away. they had problems with water injestion and pump problems. if its the red and purple one with a silver motor you should be ok..price seems high. KBB or NADA the ski and get a compression test. I think that $3000US with a trailer would be on the high side especially with 250hrs and original motor.

With out looking at it sounds like allot of money. 250 hr is motor might need some work. You can find them for as low as $1500. But then I haven't seen yours it might look like show room condition. A 99 is a better year. Check the compression on the motor and ask if it has been work on. In the middle of winter you should be able to pick it up for under $3000 If I sold mind, that is what I would be asking . Mine has 140 hr and has top end rebuilt.

I'd say if your paying 3K I would pay about 1500ish more and get an RXP or T

if you want a good gsx get the 99 these were the dual coil ignition the 98 were the bastard year, $3500 is too high. Just add more money and get a RXT or an RXP.

Appreciate the input folks. It was the red and purple model, but I agree with the hours being high, and the price tag a little too rich for the ski. I did happen to spy an '06 GTI for just over $4000 with approx. 60 hours. Leaning that way since it's a three seater AND a 4-stroke, two appealing features.
