Check out this photo I found showing what prop cavitation looks like. The other I thought to just throw in...it what happens when you let your SC nibble on a piece of Dynamat (deaden the sound of the banging plastic PWC hood) could have been much worst.

just think water pump and it trying to suck water from a bucket with a hole in the hose, its just going to suck air and not water, same principle with cavitation

The picture is normal for props on boats. The 'bubbles' you see are caused by low pressure as the prop spins causing the water to boil instantly not that it is actually sucking air. It is caused as the prop spins too fast, too quickly with the inability to push the boat forward. On our ski's the wear ring helps eliminate that. Interesting how it works.

correct the air bubble is steam from the water boiling off, and the cavitation burns on impellers is from the water boiling on them at real high temps.

no.... not the same... sucking air or not being able to prime a pump from an air leak in the induction canal to an impeller is not cavitation

Not quite. WAY different. If you think of it that way, you might as well think of it as an airplane prop while it is raining.

Um the airplane prop is not trying to push that water, its trying to push air what does the rain have to do with anything....

About as much as a pump in a bucket with a hole trying to suck water...
