    1996 SLTX engine swap

I have a 1996 SLTX with a cracked hull. Will that engine and all of the electronics fit in a 2002 Virage hull without a lot of hassle? Will the MFD function correctly? Thanks.

Is the Virage a twin or 3 cylinder? Depending on which one you have determines the engine mount locations. On my SLTH there are unused spots for motor mounts for the three cylinder that I assume would just need to be drilled and have threaded inserts epoxied in. If your Virage hull is from a three cylinder 1200 I think the 1050 would most likely bolt right in. As far as the MFD goes, if you are trying to use the Virage MFI you will have to have the 12 pin plug on the end of your harness, and follow the connections that are posted in the MFI knowledge page that can be found through the search. Changing the pin connections in the plug is very easy and only takes a few minutes to do.

    Which model Virage?

    2 or three cylinder?
    Carb or fuel injected?

Will you be using the Virage wire harness?

It is a 3 cylinder fuel injected. I can use either wiring harness, which ever will be the easiest.

That would be a Virage TXi hull then

What condition is the current Virage TXi's engine and fuel injection?

It might make more sense to sell your SLTX engine and part it out, and put the money into revitalizing the Virage TXi.

Converting a fuel injected hull to carburetor involves a bunch of changes.

The fuel tank in the Virage TXi incorporates an electric fuel pump, which is not compatible with the carburetor engines. You would need to purchase the fuel sender from a late model Freedom or Virage carb model, which will fit the Virage TXi tank and provide a carburetor compatible fuel sender.

The wiring harness for the fuel injected engine is completely different from a carb wire harness. You might be able to adapt the SLTX wire harness, but you may find that it doesn't 'fit' well and may not reach where it needs to. Best option would be to install the wire harness from a carburetor Virage.

The MFI display in the Virage can be made to work with a carburetor engine. Minor wiring changes, but not difficult.
