    Question Squish Questions

What is the normal GP1300R squish measurement with a stock head? What about a stock head and running only 1 layer of a head gasket?

    Thanks!

Mr. Bill, I believe the stock squish to be close to 90 thousandths??? Each head gasket is 10 thousandths. I had my head milled by Jim1300, hence why I put up his info now. Thats 3 things he has done for me in the fastest turn around time I have ever seen when it comes to getting stuff done.
If you run one layer of head gasket, make sure to seal that sucker up good with halimar. But getting your head milled might be the way to go. It was cheap too.

Thanks. I checked mine, but need to locate my micrometer to measure. It appears to be about as thick as a dime.

you trying to figure out the thickness of the gaskets or of the head with the gasket on it? The gaskets are 20 thousandths each, just use halymar, you'll be good to go with one if you haven't milled the head.

lowell set me up with 40 thou squish on pump gas still, 7400 rpm.. he designed the dome cuts and had his buddy machine the head. 150 bux ..cheap and dead on. On a 1200 65U engine (thumper). Egts were all good, but i added a gallon of 110 octane to each tank just for safety.

i say this because 40thou was always told to me as being too tight for pump gas. Lowell explained it actually created a layer of cool air at the top edge of the dome that the combustion air slid over. Dome design critical if i understood right.

I just sent it to him and asked him to work his majic, and he did.

40 thousandths is the ideal squish on these motors from what I have read. I am not sure where mine is at. But 155 to 165 seems the ideal psi for these motors. I had Jim1300 cut mine for $85, got it back in less than 3 days after he received it (that includes shipping it back to me), hahahaha.
