    Wear ring question

maybe a stupid question but to replace the wear ring in the freezer do u have to remove the prop to keep the wear ring from sticking to it while sliding out or can you do it with the prop in? Did a search with no luck.

If your removing the stock (plastic) ring simply take a screwdriver and colapse it inwards until you get it loose and slide it out (still need the prop removed). Then freeze the new one and drop it in the pump. Do it quickly before the ring warms up and swells back up. Make sure it seats all the way to the bottom.

Put it in the freezer both when removing and installing works easier.

Personnaly I leave the prop in but I do remove the seal around the ring before putting it into the freezer and get 2 pairs of vise-grip ready to have a good grip for pulling the old ring out. To re-install, I use a block of wood (piece of 2x4 about 1 foot long) and hammer the new ring until it hits the bottom of the pump housing.

Yes make sure you remove the seal. You dont want that damaged it could cause cavitation.

Remove the prop. Easier until you are more experienced. I've seen people bend props on the way back in.

It cant get much easier than "pops right out", use the screwdriver and you'll be done with the removal in 10 seconds, good advice on removing the seal along with the prop. Be sure and post back how quick it comes out!!!! The material used on the OEM ring is soft, not like one would expect...

I'm not sure why people are suggesting to remove the prop. This isn't necessary, mine slid out and went back in easily enough with the prop in place.
