    GP1200R worth rebuilding?

I have an opportunity to get a 2000 GP1200R that has a blown motor. I am a sea-doo guy and I do not know much about these skis. The pto piston has a hole in it and I am concerned why it was running lean. the ski has 210 hrs on it. The ski is in fair shape. Anyone think it is worth the rebuild?

The parts can add up quick especially if you have to pay someone else to do the work. If it was run lean you could be looking at cylinder and crank along with rings and new piston. If your looking to buy it try to get it as cheap as possible. you could possibly buy a good running one for what you could spend on new parts and labor. But there are some good deals on used parts in the classified section every now and then.

How much? Like mentioned things add up quick. The GPR is a great water craft and you would love the ride.

I have the ski for nothing if I want it. My friend wants it out of his yard. I am just trying to justify the rebuild. I can do the work, but I see a motor ranges between $1000-$1500.

Check compression in other two cylinders if you can. If they are at least 105 (for a stock ski) give the guy $600 to $800 bucks. Tear it down and check crank first. If it's o.k. put in a used cylinder and top end kit and you've got a good ski for around $1500 if you can do the work yourself. If the crank is bad just part the thing out. Win - win.

The price is right. If all it needs is one slug and the crank is good you could have it running for less then $500.
