    Valvetrain Upgrade

Rotax Racing Lightweight Valve Spring Retainers plus
Rotax Racing Valve Spring Shims (complete set)

    or

RIVA Sea-Doo Valve Train Upgrade Kit

are these about equivilant for upgrading the valve train to hold the Riva ECU rpms???

I guess what im saying is the Rotax parts are way cheaper and seem to do the same thing....

The Rotax Racing shims and retainers work by putting more spring tension on your existing springs and use aluminum retainers to lighten things up.

The Riva valvetrain upgrade kit uses entirely new higher rate springs which increase tension and they use stronger and lighter titanium retainers.

The Riva kit can be installed without removing your head. The two people i know of that tried to change out to the Rotax shims and retainers had to end up removing their head although Mitch says he was able to without removing the head using a Snap On valve seal removing tool.

The choice is up to you. I run the Riva upgrade in Careys ski if that means anything to you.

It's worth mentioning that on the 04 & 05 skis its best to pull the head anyway so that you can change out the oil pressure jet to get more oil to the lifters at high RPM.

06 skis use a different oiling system to the head.

Both of them have performance gains by letting you safely spin higher RPM's

What is considered higher RPM's, excess of 8500 ?
What should the stock valvetrain be safely kept at ? 8100-8200 ?
