    Feedback on Possible Ski Purchase

I've have been a frequent forum visitor to search posts, but I finally joined because I would really appreciate some feedback on a couple of skis I'm looking to buy.

I'm looking to buy these to allow friends and family to ride and not risk damage to some of the more expensive skis in the garage.

    Details are as follows:

1997 GSX; 156hrs - compression is 147/149. Starts and runs well. Hull - fair to good condition, current owner repainted hull.

1996 SP; 160ish hrs - engine runs, but sounds like it needs a top end. Hull fair to good condition, current owner repainted hull.

Includes double trailer. Price - $1500

Do you think this is a reasonable deal?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

sounds reasonable but if it was me I would still try to get him to come off it a bit....just because I dont like paying asking price especially for 14 year old skis. Just remember to get good insurance on them if your letting inexperienced riders play with them

yes, there were two motors that year. if you do have the GSX-L (951) I would walk away. that white 951 motor will die a quick death with inexperienced riders. that motor was very prone to water ingestion. if it has the 787 you will be fine

I appreciate the responses. The '97 is not the GSX-Limited with the 951.

Sounds like a good deal to me. +1 on still trying to beat him down on the price too. If you break it down, you could always get $500-$700 for a decent double trailer, and part out the 2 skis and still come out even. Or, you could always just dunp the skis again a few years down the road and get you money back. That would make a great starter set for someone to get into jetskiing. I think it's a safe buy.
