    2009 vs. 2011 FZS Differences???

Okay. I have missed my Sea Doo Supercharged for 5 years now and I want a new PWC. I have a dealer with a 2009 FZS that is brand new. Is there any differences between that and the 2011 model? Also, any reason I'd want a differents ski? I plan on getting this for an adrenaline rush and to take out when I don't want to pull out the boat.

We have two, they are great skis!
Just make sure you replace the intake grate; there appears to be a safety issue with the stock grate, but the R&D grate solves it. There is a sticky on this here. Beyond that, they have a great engine and they are very reliable.

Only difference I can think of is the colors and supercharger clutch. Id go for the 2009! I had an RXP and got an FZR. Im keeping the FZR.

Does the 2009 have a ski tow eyelet? Also, what is the saftey issue with the grate? Does the 2011 model fix this or is this something the dealer can fix on the "new" 2009?

FZR does not have a tow eye on it, thats only on the FZS. The FZ skis had an issue not with the grate itself but a condition which the stock grate caused. Fix is to yank the stock grate and install an R&D grate. Issue resolved.

After reading some of the horror stories on the intake grate it seems the grate change is a must. Does anyone know if the 2011 models have fixed this issue? How much does this cost and is it something someone who is mechanically "not" inclined can do?

some of the upgrades i know of are
2010 models came with rear boarding steps
there was a pump upgrade in 2010 models (beter washer in the pump and impellor to suit)
there was suposed to be a new clutch in 2011 models , but i have no idea if this realy happened
as their were a few people who tried them in there skis and they were stiping the gears

as far as changing the grate it's not hard to do
but if you are not good with spaners i would get the dealer to do it
would take less than 15 mins so shouldn't charge 2 much

I think that is a valid statement.
What is your dealer asking for the 2009 FZS?

Show your dealer the safety sticky on this forum. My local dealer insisted on installing them; we ordered the parts through them and they installed them for free, it's no big deal. This is the part:

Kev, our 2009 FZS models came with rear boarding steps.
I didn't know about the pump upgrade though...

The 2009 FZR doesn't come with a reboarding step.
