98 750 Sport Xi/ 93 750 ST3 engine swap
I have a running 98 750 Sport Xi with a giant hole in the front part of the hull (where all the lines come together...) and found a 93 750 ST3 for sale with a blown motor. Questions are:
1. Is this a direct swap
2. Is there anything that won't match up?
3. Would it be worth the trouble as opposed to try to fix the fiberglass?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Not sure what an ST3 is, I'm guessing a typo. The '93 is a 'Small Pin' engine, while the '98 is a 'Big Pin' engine. The engines are very similar, but the wrist pins are different sizes, which means that the rods, pistons, and crankshafts are different. The small pin engine has 10 studs on the intake manifold/reed cage, while the big pin has 12 studs. That means that those parts, as well as the crankcases are not interchangeable. Your '93 engine may have one or two carburetors.
I believe the engines will swap without problems, but keep in mind that many of the engine parts won't interchange.
By the way, these are 2-stroke engines. You might ask a moderator to move this thread to the correct forum.
