    melted piston

    could u guys help me out and tell me what could of made the piston melt its off the mag side on a 2001 pro 1200.all the rest of the piston are fine and so is the crank

    That's my first guess, and I'm sticking with it!












    Okay, just kidding. Probably a huge case leak down behind the starter between the two case halves and the front cover. Just a guess.

    yup, looks lean to me. no color on top of piston.

    air leak = lean.
    lean = heat
    heat = bad

    Piston

    Send it back to the foundry and let them finish melting it down... And I would install a new crankshaft and oil pump at the same time..

    i had the crank shaft looked at and everything the dealer said it was fine it dident need to be replaced
