    FZR ribbon and prop

    Hi Guys,

I am thinking of doing the ribbon removal on my FZR but before I remove it I was wondering what its actual purpose is. Is removing it risky at all ?

Another question, does anyone know what the stock FZR prop ratio is ?

    Cheers

    Dan

the ribbon is a restrictor like another air fiter it restricts air flow from the charger massively. no one i know has ever had a problem removing it . i believe the stock prop is 12/19.

Stock prop on the sho and fzr is 12/20

The manifold upgrade isn't too tough, but it is time consuming your first time (about 3-4hrs) depending on your mechanical skills. The absolute best piece of advice I can give you is go to Riva's website, print out the directions, and mentally go through the step by step install before you do the actual install.

edit- use the directions for their hks bov kit because their instructions for the manifold upgrade doesn't say to pull the manifold but, I assure you, pulling the manifold is a must.

The ribbon is a flame arrestor in case of a back-fire. However, in the SHO application a back-fire flame would have to get through the IC and the SC as well as plumbing/filter in order to get into the hull.

This is good advice. Removing the intake manifold makes things much easier. The instructions are here

You can order the Ribbon removal part here (don't forget greenhulk coupon code to save 10%)

Will the ribbon removal affect fuel efficency in any way ? Can the Yamaha ECU adjust to increased air flow ?
