    can a 3 wire speedometer sensor be used to replace a two wire sensor? 97 XP, 787

    i was sold a brand new complete three wire speedometor sensor. can it be used to replace a two wire application? 97 sea doo XP 787

    Im not positive only because I have never done it but I think it can. The third wire is for the temp sensor. so as long as it mounts to the ride plate properly you just wont use the extra wire

    Yes. I have done that with my 97 xp. Just make sure to match up the wire colors.

    thank you for the in put. i wired it in black to black, purple to purple, and left the third one off. ill see if this works
