    polaris cdi

I bought a 2000 polaris virage 700 last summer. I have changed the fuel lines cleaned the gas tank out... basically all of the normal stuff.. rebuilt the carbs (2)... well it ran great... then i was by myself up in one of the far coves of the lake looking for geese to hunt and it just died... it didnt spit sputter nothing... so i swam it to shore and walked it for about two hours til i saw someone... needless to say that was 4 months ago and i just now feel like fooling with it... im thinking cdi because when i turn it over the spark plugs dont get any spark and the battery is fully charged... any helps pointers and opinions are greatly appreciated... im stuck and dont wont to buy a cdi unless i know that is the problem.
    thanks,
    cory m collins

    Welcome to the Hulk

If you hold the Bilge button down, does it have spark?

Another test you can do is to unplug and bypass the LR-505 Start/Stop module. Details can be found through my signature links.

Bypassing the LR-505 Start/Stop module (test lanyard out crank, lanyard in no-crank)

Oh yes, make sure the battery can still provide plenty of voltage while cranking. Voltage to the CDI (Red/Purple wire into the CDI module) must stay above 10.6 volts while cranking or you will not have spark. Use a multi-meter. Do not reply on the voltage shown on the MFI display.

Did the engine crank with the LR module bypassed?

Did you hold down the Bilge button while cranking with the bypass?

The CDI module is in the electrical box. Similar in shape to the LR module, but bigger. Has a bunch of colored wires in a bundle and a special 9-pin connector under a plastic cover.

It will look similar (not identical) to the attached photo.

Check the voltage on the Red/Purple wire that goes into the CDI. It must stay above 10.6 volts while the engine is cranking, or you will not have spark.

The bilge pump should run when you press the button. If it doesn't run then investigate why not. Make sure the 3 Amp bilge fuse is good.
