    xlt carb rebuild

I am finishing the carbs for a 99 xlt. i have 1.5 needle and seat a 95 gram spring
115 lows and 125 highs. I get a pop off reading of 52 52 and 54. should i cut the springs to lower the pop off reading. The chart i have seen says it should be a low 40 reading.

the three pop off reading are from the three carbs. the readings are consistant. it is more important for them to be close to each other or to the specs in the chart?

Try to compress the spring first if that does not work then trim a little to get the correct reading. make sure your spring arm height is set correctly and you are using wd-40 to keep the seat wet. 115 lows is going to be rich.

i guess i am trimming the springs. I saw a number of posts. I am using the stock airbox so i thought the 115 would be ok. I may go to the 110. I have some here in another set of carbs

the wd 40 is the key. took a while to get a good pop. I also got a gauge with a 80lb scale that is easy to read. took a little practice. changing the jets will be easy. I really do not want to take the carbs off again for a long while. thanks again bill
