anyone have this happen for no reason?

The charger is still intact, nothing missing. Although should probably rebuild now that this happened, just to be safe. Ran good and RPM's were fine all day. Was haulin ass back thru the K river twisties, and when I got back to the ramp, and let off the throttle, I hear a loud clanking noise, so I shut it down. When I got home, I took out the charger to inspect, and all looks fine. I start it without the charger, and the noise goes away. I put in a spare stock charger, and the noise is back. So after pulling the PTO cover off, this is what I find.....

Any one want to sell me a good stock one? I may upgrade to the new rotax lightened one, but don't want to be down too long for the first pre order to fill. hopefully others will try them out soon.

Ouch! First thing that came to mind is if that happened to me I would check the slip on the supercharger. Is it possible if the slip is too high that the teeth on that gear might chip?? Was the SC tight to the motor? What does the gear on the SC look like?

Well... The chipped teeth definitely explain the abnormal sc'r lope... I can't believe that thing took the beating it did Saturday and didn't cause bigger problems.

Danny , 3rd flywheel. The first got damaged when I had a SC shaft snap, 2nd one when the SC bearings siezed.

Vern, the gear actually looks good, but I'm gonna rebuild it , due to this. Charger was bolted up tight. Slip was set on the high side tho. 17-18ft/lbs the whole time it was ran. I have the 08+ oil-ing mod done also...

Sturm, I think I got all of them, I still gotta pull the front strainer off to check for any more.

Tommy, All the bearings are still in the cage, and believe it or not they still seem fairly good. I guess about 60 hrs or so since the last rebuild.

I was 1/2 -3/4 throttle, and over 10+ psi the whole way back thru the twisties, with bursts of 13+. Good thing when it happened we were pulling into the dock.

Wow... that sucks! Personally... I would replace that timing chain as well.

    Could have been worse...
