96 Gtx, rpm's go down to 1500 out of water after idling for a while.

My gtx 787 twin carbed, seem to be idling around 2500 rpm if you let it idle for say a minute or 2 the rpm's go down to 1500, the carbs been rebuilt by local shop last summer. it seem to lag on acceleration. this is out of the water, all fluids, sparks, hoses have been replaced. if i hit the throtle and get the rpm up, it will go back to 2500 rpm at idle, and after a while it will come down again. is this normal or should i check something else. ive got another 96 and it seems to accelerate faster and the rpms will stay steady at 2500.
should i lean it out to get faster response time?

it sounds like its loading up. try turning in the low speed screws just a smige (1/8 a turn). dont go to far or it will lean out and runaway from you

I adjusted the low speed to 1 1/4 it was at 1 1/2 seem to be a little better i also checked the manual for specs on idle out of water and adjusted that too (3000 rpm)was at 2500 checked compression seems fine at 160 psi and 155 psi. I haven't been able to try them out in the water, i was checking on the hoses and noticed that they did not replaced all of the fuel hoses I saw 2 gray ones, so iam sure they didn't clean the fuel valve. i will do that too. Ive noticed my other ski (same model) the rpms are 2500 rpms out of the water should i rev it up to 3k as stated in the manual? seems high to me

2500-3k is okay. any lower and it will start to knock, shake and want to stall in the water.
