    Really Black Oil?

I'm wondering if anyone else has had unusually black oil in their FZ?
I changed a sprag on a Mates FZ last week & noticed it had really black oil. I was a bit concerned as the previous oil change had been about 30 hours prior, however he seemed to think with all the short runs he'd been doing testing it may have been fuel in the oil. The consistency was quite thin.

However after the sprag was replaced it took 3.25 litres to top it up and we put a new oil filter on it.
Now after 3 hours run time on the weekend the oil is jet black again.
    Any ideas?

My oil is pretty black every time I change my oil. I've changed it about 8 - 9 times. I have 60+ hours on my ski.
It has been quite dark even after only a few hours. And quite thin also (GIO).

lol re poor Tony But yes the temps are being monitored. What worries me is that I only changed the sprag last week, therefore it was almost a complete oil change. This Ski has had fairly regular changes too, well not as much as I would but never more than 20-30 hrs. I just can't work out how 3.5 litres got so black so fast & it worries me a bit?

Hey Mandy, if it is concerning you why don't you get the oil tested this will tell you all sorts of things, my mate gets all his earthmoving oils tested to see how things are going. I could find out the company name for you if you want.

I sent my oil to them for testing only it was "lost in the mail". They sent me a new "kit" to re-test. I just never did it again.

Oil Analyzers, Inc. - Oil Analysis, Oil Testing Services

On the VERY bottom of the Amsoil site click on "oil analysis".
