Thread: wear ring.

    wear ring.

    Got a RXP 05 how would you know when the wear ring is worn does it make any different in pwr rpm or take off.

    Welcome to the forum.

    If your wear ring is worn, you'll experience cavitation out of the hole. Take a look at the prop/ring, and if there is more than 1.0 mm or (.040in) clearance in-between the blades and wear ring, it should be replaced. Also may want to consider changing if you have some deep grooves/scratches in the ring. Use a feeler gauge to get a reading. Honestly if there is a decent sized gap, I'd replace it. Hope this helps!

    As Pauly said previously, cavitation out of the hole is the initial sign of wear. Take it out and warm her up first. Then hit it from idle. If it bangs the limiter and hesitates to go and or doesn't jump out of the water immediately, chances are pretty good you have a wear ring issue. If it's cold where you live. You can pull the pump and look for deep grooves also as Pauly mentioned.

    well now i know that's my problem.Can i do any damage if i keep riding it,till i get it fixed?

    No, not really. You just experience the loss of performance which makes the ride just not a spirited! Still fun...just not like new. Put a new wear ring in and it will probably feel just like new again depending on the age/hours!
