Why you need a catch can...

So this isn't my ski, it's my Lightning supercharger and intercooler but the concept is the same...The crankcase vents into the intake tract and the following pics will show you the carnage...Then I'll post up the pics of it all clean again (took 7-8 bottles of carb cleaner to get it back there...)

You'll easily be able to see just how damaging (performance-wise) that oil is...It coats everything and has got to be killing thermal transfer, etc...In short no good can come from it...

Truck is apart for some repairs after it decided to lift the passenger side head at 150ish the other night coming home (that's a fun experience... )

First the pics of the funk...

Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic since the 2nd oil change... (and the first oil change was the factory blend just to make sure everything was seated and broken in proper...). The actual motor itself looks like new...This is just the crud/residue that builds up on the intercooler and intake tract from the oil sucked out of the crankcase by the blower if you don;t have some type of seperator or catch can in place...

I just used some off the shelf aerosol carb/throttle body/intake cleaner...8 cans of it...Just start spraying it through on one side and let the stuff push everything out the other side as it breaks it down...Then soak it in water and let it air dry...
