    VX110 rattle questions

    Hey everyone!
In the process of buying a 05 vx110 sport. Compression is 210+/- on all cyl.(is this good?) Starts and seems to run good out of water. My concern is a fairly loud rattle from back end of motor or behind it. Are there bearings to go bad there? I'm new to skis so any help would be appreciated. Any way to find out about recalls on these units?? wanted to know what to look for before buying.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

Hi, no need to worry. That noise is coming from your gear reduction unit. Your motor has a gear reducer at the tip of the crank on the back side and it is VERY noisy out of the water since there isn't any load on it. I'm also buying this model as a second ski. Great choice, Julio...

Just as Julio, says. Great ski. At 210 psi it has perfect compression.
I have VX110's with over 900 hours still reading 210 psi compression.
The reduction boxes are always noisy. I've never had to replace one.

Regarding recall or updates, call your Yamaha dealer & give them your HIN & they'll be able to tell you.

    Talking Feeling better now!

Thanks evryone! this puts me at ease about the noise. I did call the local (1 hour away) dealer about recalls. They said there was one open on the throtle cable. Anything else I should check? I'm planning to change the oil and plugs as soon as the weather warms up.
(20 and dropping outside) Where is the best place to get plugs at a good price?

I'm getting it and another ski for $1500. No trailer but still a steal, i think. The guy is just unloading everything he has. My wife says i have a knack for falling into a pile of (stinky stuff) and comming out smelling like a rose.
