I've been reading the forums for years now but have never posted anything...till today.

About a month ago I took delivery of a leftover 09 FZR demo model with 8 hrs to join my old GP 800. After reading the posts in relation to the bucking issue, I decided to go ahead and replace the intake grate before my butt and this ski come close to the water! I can only imagine getting tossed at 70 w/o notice!!!

In any case, I just wanted to say hello and thank Jerry for his help this morning in ordering the R&D grate and the pump seal kit.

I appreciate it, folks! Mike, There's definitely a ton of good info on the Hulk for anyone who wants to take a little time and read...from the numerous builds to the safety issues discussed...and allstar has done an AWESOME job with the library!!!

    Thanks, Rip!

Got a stupid question here but I'm sure I'm not the first to run into it. The FZ is on the trailer and I feel pretty certain the grate will not clear the trailer cross-brace when I replace it with the R&D. I don't know this for a fact because I have not unbolted it, but in the event I need to lift the hull to clear the brace, I feel pretty leary about pressure points with these nano hulls. My thought was to unbolt the metal brackets that tie the 2X4's to the trailer and jack it up from there, taking advantage of the weight distribution....any suggestions?

The intake grate is not very wide--I can't imagine it not clearing your trailer bunks. Hell, I change my ride plate on the bunks. If the obstruction is under the bunks maybe slide the ski forward or backward--just keep it hooked-up to a car if you slide it backward.

    Thanks, Craig!

It may very well clear, but if it doesn't, sliding the ski a bit sounds like a better alternative.
