Anyone install Groco Strainer on their iS model?

Has anyone installed a Groco Strainer on their iS model. I have a 2010 GTX Limited 260 iS and would like to install this mod but I am not sure where to locate. I was hoping someone else had already done this and I could avoid reinventing the wheel.

Also, do you have to remove the moving deck to complete the install?

The only possible location I have found so far for the stainer and cutoff valve would be inside the left rear of the hull behind the storage bin next to intercooler. This would require and Allen wrench to remove the bin (with stock bolts installed) to clean the strainer if needed.

Any feedback / suggestions would be appreciated.

I guess I will be the first. If I figure it out I will make a post showing the results.

    Hey mate,

Yes that would be the best place for a strainer, although maintaining it will take time thanks to all the allen key bolts there.

No you don't have to remove the top deck.

You want the cut off valve to be in easy access in the event your ski needs a tow...

You don't need to cut off water supply to the intercooler, but you will to the exhaust... Its not easy to find a better location than to block off the whole lot at the same space where you plan to fit the strainer...

Maybe its best to have the tap fitting in the same location and carry an allen key to suit with your toolkit that you take out on the water with you...

Strainer and Cutoff Valve Installed on 2010 Seadoo GTX Limited iS 260.

Two years after my first post above, I finally got around to adding my strainer and cut-off valve to my 2010 Seadoo GTX Limited iS 260.

The project only took a couple of hours and was pretty simple. It actually took me longer than it should have as I had to remove and install the strainer a second time after I realized I forget to put thread sealing tape on the barb fittings. Dumb move.

The downside of the location I selected in the left rear hull opening is I now need to carry an Allen wrench and nut driver with me on the water to remove the storage bin anytime I need to check or empty the strainer or actuate the cut-off valve. This was however the best location I could find on the iS model.

For anyone else wanting to add a strainer and cut-off to a 2010 GTX Limited iS 260, look up the cooling system diagram using this link:

    http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....COOLING-SYSTEM

The strainer needs to be installed on hose #5

The cut-off valve needs to be installed on hose #3.

Thanks to this forum and it's members for providing the information I needed to complete the project.

Just wondering if an electric activated valve (normally closed solenoid) would do the trick. It could be hooked up to the ignition.
    Any comments?
