    97 gsx Question

My 97 800 gsx is now spinning an RFI pump with stock rfi 82/85 nozzles and a 15/23 concord @ 7500+ rpm. I had a bad jumper setting (8000 rpm) limiting it to 7380 rpm so I took all the rev limit pins off & it hits 7480-7520 rpm now. So, I don't want it spinning that much & would want more top end as well. Do I nozzle down or pitch up the prop? Last weekend at senators wash I was seeing temps of 1305 on rear cyl & 1290 on front & can hold it WOT as long as I wanted with no hiccups or rpm loss so i'd say it's a safe temp range.
It's only hitting 59.5 but it gets there like, RIGHT NOW & is glued to the water so I know there's 1.5 to 2 mph more a with stock grate & sponsons but thats no fun bouncing around when the glass water is gone

    Whatya think?

I would go with a 15/24 or 16/24 if your not worried about bottom end but those egt temps are really high. Are race boats are set at about 1050-1100 anything higher is dangerous. I would watch the temps. Another thing are LTD xp 800 ( no motor work ) only run 62.5 on smooth water so I would say your real close. Have you checked your timing and what fuel are you using. Ive also had good luck using 17/22 skat impeller for closed course but I think You can get a 17-23or24 that would probalby work good for you. I have a rec xp 800 ltd set up with the rfi pump with the 17/22 magnum impeller that works really well just a thought.

probe location is different than most. between the carbs & mainifold.
Also, If I richen it up to high 1100's or even 1200's it's sluggish & plugs are dark. I get tan color with the 1290-1300 temps.

Haha, rxp747, if you're talking about #8.....he's even slower. No championships yet. I get a lot of **** by riding or even pulling that ski around but then again some come up & snap pix. If they don't knbow nascar & see that ski they think I'm a flamer.

EGT temps mean little from boat to boat, you need to do a chop and verify piston wash and plug color so that you know what your boats safe numbers are.

I would pull the raves out as it is way quicker than pulling the head all the time.

Mine were in a lot closer and 1200 was reaching high for me so make sure you keep those temps in check.

My front was 1190 and rear was 1160.

Sorry I am little help on the prop

15/25 concord is probably the best for top speed as i stated in the thread above.

15/25 will load the engine too much. With a Spec II they like to rev...I wouldn't prop up above a 15/24.

You are really at you ideal max rpm range now. My Rossier setup in my 96 XP turns a Solas XO 7550.

Yeah, I' think i'm going 15.5/23.5 1st then maybe the 24 if I need it.
I wanna try a new rev limiter since my old one has a setting issue. I'm also running 1/2 degree Tard so on top end I'm 1.5 degrees retarded..

    1/2 degree @ 7000rpm & every 250 rpm there after. 7500 rpm = 1.5 right?

    Thanx RQ
