For the FZ the most common location is on the starboard side of the pump. You only drill the hull. As as you view the ski from the stern, it is the vertical portion of the hull on the starboard side of the pump, as indicated the wall is approx 1/4" thickness.

You have to remove the reverse gate, the ride plate and the nozzle bracket on the starboard side of the pump. On the inside you have to remove the engine exit water hose, It is the highest hose on the starboard side. It is the hose that exits through the pump flange. The temporary removal of the hose allows you to attach the new hose and tighten the new fitting.

Keep in mind, the location for the FX is different than the FZ.
