Picked up an 06 gp1300r. Some questions.

I don't really know anything about waverunners, as this is my first. I wanted a gp1300r based on reading posts from here. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. I removed all of the stickers on it today. The seller just replaced the converter, and also had the throttle cable recall done on it. The ski only has 57 hours on it. It is bone stock. I did not get to ride it, but compression was good. One odd thing I did notice was that it seemed to idle high hooked up to the hose. Around 2k. When you blipped the throttle, it would not drop right away, but real slow and kind of bounce around a little. We called a Yamaha dealer and they said this is normal when it is out of the water. Is this true?

There is a notch in the front of the hull that needs to be repaired (not all the way through, I can fit the top of my pinky in it), and a couple scratches up top. I will probably call some boat repair shops to see what this will cost, but I can't imagine it being much??

Based on what i have read here, I believe my first mods will be:
    D-Plate
    Pump tunnel reinforcement
    Leo's holeshot

Beyond that I really don't know. I want it to be able to eventually do low 70-72, and accelerate hard. I am used to riding RXPs (not mine), so you can see why I like the acceleration . Nothing too crazy, just want it to be reliable. Any suggestions welcome!

Yeah thats normal idle. Plan on a 1200/1300 grate very soon as it first mod along with those u listed. Also a pump seal kit and seal the pump up good. Do a search on here for that.

Its very easy to get an '06 to 72mph and accelerate great.

An R&D ride plate cut by Jim will get you to 72 in a big hurry!

Also, congrats on the new ski.
