Value of 2003 Genesis 1200i with bad motor?

Don't know hours or what is wrong with motor, but boat is in good shape. Any idea on what to offer?

    Fuel injected engine?

What does the seller say about the motor? What does he think is the problem?

Will you be able to examine the engine before you make an offer?

I just paid $650 for one that was missing the the ignition stator - the PO said it was bad and took it out to replace it but never finished....he also claimed he had the EMM tested and it was fine.

That $650 aslo included a double trailer that is big enough for both of my Genesises (Genesii?)

If the motor is completely shot...as in beyond rebuild, a replacement will be well over a grand.

Guy doesn't have a clue about engine, everything is intact and looks good. Was thinking$ 800 cash. What's it worth in running condition?

You didn't say whether it was fuel injected or not.

Do you have any photos of the engine? The injectors are quite visible on top of the Ficht engines. Carb engines just have the three spark plugs sticking straight up from the cylinder heads.

Photo of the model name on the side of the upper deck?
Genesis i is fuel injected, Genesis without the i is carburetor. But sometimes the little i is hard to see.

Or you can compare the color scheme to this Polaris PWC model chart.

What are the last two digits of the HIN number from the rear deck? Sellers often get the model year wrong, so it is good to check. The last two HIN digits are the model year.

Will you be able to inspect before you buy?

I gave $400 for my 02 Genesis I with a single tailer and it had a bad EMM. The ski was in great cosmetic condition (was kept under cover most of its life) as well as the trailer. Had the EMM repaired and it fired right up with Keiths help along the way of course (thanks again by the way)

By the way, his subject line list this ski as a 1200 i so I would assume its fuel injected?

I felt the point should be clarified, as it does affect the value.

Yes it is fuel injected and yes the last 2 digits are 03. It was funny as the guy I talked to (the father of the owner) said it was an 08, which is waht made me look at the HIN.

I looked up the value on NADA boats and it had the value at $1250 in running condition. Is that correct?

Neither NADA nor KBB seem to be very useful in terms of Polaris PWC values.

Prices for good condition running Polaris PWC vary quite a lot. In my area of Canada prices range from $3000-$6000 for 2000-2004 model year Polaris PWC.

Other guys in the USA have found great deals for well under $1000.

Bargain for the best deal you can, and go from there. Once you get it running well, the real value is in the enjoyment of having it, riding it, and spending time on the water.

+1 on the NADA and KBB values. If you look it up on both there is a huge difference in the estimated value between the two. Is there a trailer included with the ski? If so, what condition is it in?
