1998 ZXI 1100 CV or Not CV

I just picked up a broken 1998 ZXI 1100. It does not have the CV carbs. I guess it has the carbs from the 96 ZXI. The ski has a melted front piston. I am trying to decide what carbs to use when I put it back together. I have a set of ZXI 1100 CV carbs and could use either. I have heard that the CV carbs are not the best.

Does anyone have an opinion on what would be best to use?

I still haven't got this 'Ski together, I hope to have it finished next week. Anyway, I had the same question. I'm going with the CVs.

IMO any time you can go with a tunable carb like a mikuni you are way better off. CV's work good untill they dont after that it seems they are junk.

the earlier 1100's are still kehin carbs.

the CV carbs are NOT tuneable ( externally). parts are very expensive for rebuilds, ect. they are also known for being cold blooded, and hard starting.

the non CV carbs have adjustable high, and low speed screws, are easier / less expensive to rebuild, and seem to run better overall.

i would go with the NON-cv carbs.

I think I will put the non CV carbs back on. I had them apart today and they look great inside.
