    Better performance: slh700 or slx780

I know neither is gonna set the world on fire, but I have a 99 slh and a 96 slx and I'm trying to figure out which will perform better (faster). Ill end up riding both obviously, but one will be "mine" and the other will be the wife's

    I need help picking mine.

My money is on the 780. Slh weighs about 100lbs more and power is more or less 95HP in stock form for both.

This is how I would approach the situation, if the 780 is faster then tell her the slh is safer and bigger and you really want to make sure she is safest out of both of you.

If the SLH is faster then tell her the 700 engine has a known fault that could leave her stranded, and you really want to make sure she is safest out of both of you.

    Win-Win

the 96 slx is a very cool ski and will out run the 700 but the 700 is a ton of fun also so either way you have two great little rides

    she will like the 700

I'm leaning towards the SLX for you too.

It's set up to be a bit more agressive in the turns, is lighter than the SLH with comparable HP, and will be a bit more of a wet ride.

The SLH COULD be modified to make more HP, but will cost you. I think it has strakes on the bottom of the hull which should help in keeping the water out of her face.

    That's my take.

I have also owned both of these ski's and the 96 slx780 was my all time favorite Polaris ski, I loved the 2000 and 1999 slh as well but it is in my opinion a little more of a luxury ride compared to the slx780. My wife preferred the slh's

Looking at my manuals, Polaris lists the 99 SLH at 460 pounds and the 96 SLX at 499. I would think the lighter ski with slightly more horsepower would possibly be a little snappier.

Everyone knows the 96 SLX 780's are super fast and reliable!

Give the wife the SLH...it's a safer and more comfortable ride...and is probably slower.
