Unhappy What's Causing loss of mph???

Just purchased an '04 FX Cruiser HO (Full Riva Kit) and have a problem that i was hoping could be answered here in the forum.

It appears that i'm getting my full engine rpms (10.3k) on the stock tach however, i'm not getting over 60mph which is the stock ho's speed.

I inspected that boat and found the following:

    1) Large (at least 1/2 inch) gap between the ride plate and intake duct. In fact looking from the back of the boat through the top of the ride plate, you can see clear through to the ground.

2)Impeller Duct seems to have 3 of the stator veins damaged. Looks like nickel sized pieces of material is missing.

Would either of these issues contribute to a total loss of 3 or 4 mph that i should be getting from the riva upgrades?

I've used the search and come across posts covering the stator veins being blown out but didnt see anyone mentioning what effects it would have other than cavitation.

As for the gap between the pump shoe and ride plate, seems the felt is missing.

Has anyone else with an HO experienced a performance loss similar to this?

Would my possible performance loss be to the missing felt and chipped stator veins?

    JR.

No the stator veins aren't there for any real reason they just look cool.... Sarcasm aside, I believe the combined poorly sealed ride plate and stator veins missing nickel sized chunks could easily take off 4-5 mph. Have you ever GPS'd it before the performance loss? What riva upgrades are you running?

LOL thanx for the laugh...I'm currently running the full riva setup: ride plate, intake grate, PPK, DF 14/20, Sponsons, riva filter, velocity stacks.

Gps'd my top speed so far has been 60.1mph

With those mods I'd think you should be seeing more like 65
