    06 crank in my 05 rxp? backfire!!

    hey guys, i installed an oem 06 crank in my 05 rxp, just now getting it fired up for the first time after the build and all she does is turn over then backfire (loud tooo). is the flywheel or something different for timing? i thought they were the same but definately not. any ideas? i stilll have my stock 05 flywheel if that's just the issue.

    The crank position sensor is in a different location.

    great, if i only knew that before i installed the darn thing. what's the best way to correct the issue? change the mounting for the pto? i do have all the stuff from the 06 motor too.

    Try calling Duke. I don't think you will like the answer, tho. The engine may need to be pulled back out to fix.

    Two choices change the PTO cover to 06+ or drill the crank and move the trigger pin.

    yea, figured i would have to pull the motor again. will get a hold of duke this week. thanks for the info guys

    I have had this problem, you will need to pull the motor, stand it on its end and take the PTO cover off,

    yep, exact same issue. will get the motor removed this week. all makes sense now. did you try to start your motor with out moving it first? crazy back fire! never seen my buddy run out of my shop so fast!

    Yeh but that costs a lot more then a PTO gasket, Its very common for this to be done to a crank, just spin it 2 holes, works perfect.
