Cool 4" air Intake Fact Or Fiction?

    Hey People,
If your supercharger inlet is only 3" what good is a 4" intake? Is it not obvious that you are only getting 3 inches of air intake. Is there a larger s/c inlet out there for RXP 215?

It's all about getting the air to the SCer as cool and with as little restriction as possible, there is many many cases of gained RPM when fitting a 4" intake.

As long as there is some form of "Velocity stack" or tapered inlet to the charger, the larger volume will be 'Skewed' into the inducer beautifully.(look around the net for a video of air being drawn into an inducer with a smoke trail in the air, is will show what happens. It actually starts to spiral before it gets to the inducer tips, and this is what you need to guide the air in, without being disrupted on its way).
Its not the major factor the size of the inducer face, its how it pulls the air in. Give it as much as you can with some form of tapered lead-in to suit. I have seen ppl with just trimmed pipe with no lead in do the 4", and it has failings. Get the adapter from the shop here, and make sure it all matches-up without any steps.

Take one RXP-X 2009 from factory box and go to the water. Fueling your toy at 1/3, and you have:
    8000/8020rpm - oem air filter - sea level, 24celsius: 67,7mph
    8100/8120rpm - riva air filter - sea level, 24celsius: 68,8mph:
8160/8180rpm - 4'' kanaflex air filter with adapter: 69,6mph - better trottle response

Riva REAR air filter, I beliave is the better choice and the best results. But, I never try this. My rpm numbers are from digital panel oem, I don't try verify rpm with a PET in my RXP-X.

The 4'' air filter works good, very good!! And, if you add this mod in a "out of box unit" you can change the impeller - 8.180rpm is some close rev limiter and in a rogue water, you can less traction and mph.

Fact...good for 100 RPM over 3". You will not find anyone that will tell you they saw no improvement with the upgrade.
