Thread: power valve??

    power valve??

I have my cylinders for my 2004 800xlt in for replating. The guy at the shop was taking my cylinders apart and said one was missing a powervalve. He said I would have had a loss of power out of the hole.
Now this is my first ski and I don't know alot.
So is this possible to run without a powervalve?
Why would it have been removed?
Where do I get a new one?
    Should I buy two?
Will I see a power improvement?
Would this have caused me to blow a cylinder?

    Thanks

I didn't think I had a powervalve motor, but the tech said my exaust port would have been open all the time. So maybe I should get some clarity from him.

it may have lost the pin and gotten chewed up... reason for installing waveeater clips

    yes, you need one

not necessary to replace both if the other is still good

list a wanted to buy add in the classified and see if anyone has a good used one for sale

New powervalve very expensive, not a high stress part. Try classifieds here or Ebay. Save some money so you can afford the three $20 wave eaters.

waveeaters are an aftermarket part, where the powervalve is a OEM part... you can buy them from the online store here for sure, but a new valve is high vs a used one
