Remove Rave Valves
Good afternoon all.
I have a 97 XP (787 engine) and cleaning it for the summer.
I have 2 questions for ya'll.
The first is can you remove the forward (Mag, I believe) rave valve with out removing the exhaust pipe?
The 2nd question is, after you change the fuel lines, how do you go about bleeding the air from all of the lines? Does just cranking it make enough suction to pull all of the fuel through. Should I start by filling up the filter?
Thanks for all the help ya'll provide.

valves should unbolt and clear without removing the exhaust
I always just crank it untill the fuel comes all the way out of the return line... it will self-bleed the air

The mag one I disassemble it on there and there is a position to get the housing off without touching the exhaust.
with the carbs working good, fuel shouldn't take too long to come up using the choke, but i think the 97 xp has accelerator pumps so if they still have fuel in the acc pump it will need a couple of pumps of the throttle to fire it up

Please help with this. The whole assembly doesn't fit past the exhaust. Do I need to take bolt number 21 out then remove everything then pull the valve (#24) out by itself? It seems like they would make it easier than having to remove the exhaust every time you want to clean out the rave valves.

Have you removed 19, 20 and 29 yet? Also, 22 unscrews from 24. (regular thread = lefty loosey, righty tighty) Get all that removed and again, the exhaust definately does not need to be removed.

I just took out both 21. Then pulled the whole assembly out, just for the pto side. I will take 22 apart from 24 and pull it out that way for the mag. Thanks guys, ya'll rock!
