    2011 Kawasaki Ultra 300X and 300LX info

Kawasaki sent greenhulk.net some press information on the new 300X monster that's loaded with tech info so I wanted to share it with you guys here.

To me is the most impressive feature is the new Eaton TVS supercharger with 17lb's of boost. This is the same brand supercharger that's used on blown nitro cars, Cadillac CTS-V, Ford Shelby GT 500 and the 2010 Audi S4 just to name a few.

The new TVS (twin vortices series) supercharger uses twin four lobe rotors to produce a continues delivery of air for smoother throttle response and a significant increase in performance. The superchargers output volume is 2019.3cc per engine revolution.
The rotors are coated to prevent galling by rotor to case contact during initial start up. The dark gray coating wears to mate the rotors to the case allowing tighter clearances.

The supercharger gear set increases supercharger speed by a ratio of 2.1:1 and utilizes a rubber damper to reduce drive line shock and vibration. The transmission case is filled with Nye605 oil.

Fogging the engine is made easy as the supercharger has a fogging oil service port built in. Just inject fogging oil for 10 seconds while the engine is at idle.

The new 300X features a newly designed supercharger automatic belt tensioner which requires no maintenance or special tools.

It also features dedicated intercooler discharge lines along with a flush port to help the intercooler maintain peak performance.

The newly designed intake manifold is maye from Polyamide Nylone for extreme durability and less vibration on sensors. This intake manifold also reduces weight by 5.7 lbs and uses a new O-ring manifold seal.

The engine features new exhaust valves with a stem diameter (at head) which is increased from 5.3 to 6.3mm. The valve head support has increased in size from 39 to 47mm.

The engine features an upgraded cooling system which changes the water jacket volume from 56.5 to 20mm which prevents overcooling at low engine RPM (5000 RPM and below)
The crankshaft end has changed to allow the rotor to attach via a spline. Previously this was attached with a taper. The engine cases are rib reinforced to handle the increase in power.

The engine also has an upgraded oil cooler which ensures sufficient cooling at high RPM. The oil cooler is now thermostatically controlled which controls oil flow to decrease warm up time.

The skis feature an upgraded driveline coupler which provides additional strength to handle the increased power output. Thread sizes on the coupler have increased from M24 to M30.

The ski features a new larger diameter pump which increases thrust by 244 lbs.
Pump diameter has increased from 155 to 160mm and the guide vanes are thicker for increased durability.
The new pump has a double bearing driveshaft support with new shaft nut. The nut stops the shaft from moving forward.

The newly designed steering nozzle is 20mm shorter than the ultra 260 and reduces from 91mm to 88mm.

The new pump impeller has a newly designed leading edge which helps hook up and keeps cavitation to a minimum. The trailing edge is flat to maximize pressure through the pump guide vanes (same as a 260X) Blade surface has increased from 11.5 to 13.0 in per blade.

The upgraded intake grate features horizontal vanes which help grip the water keeping the bow from rising on acceleration. The new design improves stability and hook up and enables for more efficient power transfer.

Revised top end components include revised camshaft timing.
The 260X has 74.5 degrees Open (BBDC) and the 300X has 75.5 degrees
260X 9.5 degrees Closed (ATDC) and the 300X 15.5 degrees
Duration on the 260X is 264 degrees and the 300X 271 degrees.
Improved lubrication orifice at lobe bases improve durability and heat reduction.
A new stronger cam chain increases link plates from 4/5 to 5/6 and is required to offset the increase in combustion pressure.

The pistons have a thinner piston crown and shallower deck relief maintains the current compression ratio of 8.4:1
Less skirt area decreases mechanical drag and reduces weight.

The new exhaust system features a new waterbox baffling system to reduce sound.
It also prevents upstream water flow during extended idling periods.

The new 260/300X features a new electronic throttle valve system (ETV)
This allows for precise control & sharp throttle response as well as idle speed, 5 mph mode and cruise control settings.
The throttle lever is cabled to an accelerator position sensor (APS) located below the steering cowl.

The new ETV Fi throttle body's diameter remains unchanged at 60mm.

New injectors handle higher volumes of fuel delivery. The new fuel rail delivers more fuel from the upgraded fuel pump.

The speed sensor has been moved from the transom plate to the ride plate to increase accuracy.

The hull features a revised hull that is stronger and made from FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic. Revised hull thickness achieves ideal strength and balance and reduces overall weight by 43.8 lbs. The reinforced bow increases rigidity and respsone.
The hull features a 22.5 degree deep V for better grip. Precise chines for high speed stability. The sponsons enhance stability and straight line performance. The sharp bow angle reduces wave shock and helps the ski cut through choppy water.
The hull has four "KSD" Kawasaki Splash Deflector ridges built in for a dry ride.
All this gives for the ultimate in confident control of the most powerful PWC in the world.

New Ergonomics feature handlebars that are 40mm wider giving more leverage and lighter steering feel. The ski has 5 day adjustable tilt to suit the rider.

The new seat shape features a slimmer front for improved feel when seated. The overall width is 15.6mm narrower than that of the 260X.

The reverse lever is redesigned to fit the hand better and features a new lock-out trigger making the lever easier to engage. The reverse lever has a new pivot for lighter feel making it easier to dock the ski using "neutral" center position.

The ski features a new front hatch along with dual air intake image and a newly designed windscreen. This new sleeker styling gives the ski a more aggressive look to match it's extreme power and performance.

Fuel capacity is 20.6 gallons with a low fuel warning at approximately 6 gallons of fuel remaining.

There's a 7.4 gallon removable front storage tray under the front hatch. Front storage capacity is 54.4 gallons. The glove box has .8 gallons of storage. Another .8 gallons of storage is available under the seat. Total storage is 56 gallons.

The ski features a Yellow SLO key which limits engine speed by approximately 25 to 30%
The Orange kit brings on full power.

The skis feature "Kawasaki Smart Steering" to aid in better handling. A steering sensor is linked to the ECU to raise engine RPM to turn if the throttle is quickly released from high speed and the handlebars are turned sharply. This has been a standard Kawasaki feature since 2001.

The skis also feature a reboarding step which folds up and out of the way when not in use.

The flush port have been moved to the left of the transom for easier access. The left side (black) is for engine flushing. You must run the engine to flush.
The right side (gray) is for intercooler flushing. No need to run the engine to flush the intercooler.

    New high tech features include

    • 5 mph mode
    • electronic Cruise Control
    • LCD instruments
    • Fuel Economy Assistance Mode
    • ECO indicator
    • Ambient Water and Air temp gauges
    • Electronic trim
5 mph mode (no wake zone mode) Maintains 5 mph by monitorying RPM.
Engage with the SET (blue) button on the right handle bar switch at idle.

Electronic cruise control is integrated into the ETV system and uses engine RPM to operate. RPM adjustment in increments of 250 RPM can be used from 200 to 7000 RPM while in cruise control mode.

The new digital LCD screen has new layout and controls. The meter mount is higher and easier to read and control. The new temperature display has the water sensor located on the intercoolers inlet pipe. The air temp sensor is located inside the handlebar pad.

The fuel economy assistance mode reduces fuel consumption but retains sporty performance. 15% fuel savings at 37.5 mph.
The ECO icon appears on the meter when the blue button on the left handlebar switch is depressed.

The new ECO indicator icon appears on the dash when fuel efficiency is at the optimal level.

The digital display has an integrated boost gauge which will read to 18 psi.
The display will also record maximum speed and RPM. These are easily reset by holding down the SET button for 2 seconds.

The new trim system electronically controls the angle of the outlet nozzle. Range is +/- 8 degrees from STD (step-free motion)

Here's a good video of the ski in action

I hope you found the new tech features interesting. If you have any questions on anything let me know and I'll try to help any way I can.

    Thank you,
    Jerry
