Do I need to clean the exhaust chamber

I put a new motor in my waveventure and I suspect overheating killed the old one. I am wondering if I need to remove the four bolts and clean the exhaust chamber. I do not have the gaskets and I really wanted to install the motor today. Can I just blow them out with water?

You probably should just take everything apart and clean it all up really well.
But you could blow through it with compressed air and run some water through the water jacket. If it flows through nicely then there's a good chance its ok.
