    08 exhaust valves

I was wondering if anyone has seen a newer exhaust valve cut in half before. I was under the impression that the 75219t1k were solid valves and the older were hollow however one of the guys broke a exhaust valve on a 08 rxtx and it was hollow.the numbers on the valves were correct. I'll be cutting up some old valves with different numbers to see if the diameter of the hole in the center is the same between the different models.

we cut some valves and these are the results

    04 intake - solid valve
    08 intake - solid valve

    04 exhaust - hollow valve
    06 exhaust - hollow valve
    08 exhaust - hollow valve

the opening on all the exhaust valves were the same, around 2.9 mm.

the 08 intake and exhaust valve I cut was not off of the ski that broke a valve.it was off of a spare set I had(there goes $100 but it was worth finding out) wanted to make sure it wasn't a defect or wrong stampings from a batch.

by the way, if you are going to cut valves, read up on cutting sodium filled valves first.

All the exhaust valves are hollow and sodium filled. If you heat the parts that you have cut it will melt the sodium and it will come out as a liquid then reharden once it cools. Throw the sodium in water and it will spark and smoke The sodium is for heat transfer from the valve head to the stem and then into the valve guide

I didn't ever think the exhaust valves were solid. Just a better grade of stainless, then again i have the better 06+ exhaust valves and they're rusted to hell. I'm contemplating whether i should get rid of them or run it.

The chrome plating on the stem most likely wore away.

so would anyone know why the 07 and up valves are better than the previous ones? I was told they were better because they were solid but since they're not, is it a better material?
