Ride plate sits lower than intake grate

Towards the middle of my shred master ride plate on my ultra 150 it hangs down lower than my intake grate... I've read that you want it to be slightly recessed but my question is how do you go about making it that way? Do you grind it on the bottom side or do you grind it on the top side where it mounts up against the hull??

TOp side where the foot mounts are or foot plates ....or mounting plates ....or whatever else they wanna call it. you need to measure each one with a caliper and take off the correct amount. some even angle there plates for a little more. But as you bring it up make sure there is enough clearance
