2011 is the last model year for the Kawasaki 800 SXR?

Is this the last year for kawi's two stroke standup?

I think 2011 will also be the last model year for both the Yamaha Superjet and the Kawasaki SXR-800 in the US market.

Dealers can stock up on 2011 models and legally sell them after Jan 1, 2012, but cannot order additional inventory after Jan 2012.

It is unclear how the smaller specialty stand-up manufacturers will be affected, but I think they can still sell into the 'competition' market. I am not sure if those machines will still be legal for sale to the general public after 2011.

Well then, you need to make a plan.

Either you find a left-over new SXR-800 next year (and they will be rare, since annual stand-up production volumes and new dealer orders tend to sell out fairly quickly each year) or you find a good condition used machine.

There has been speculation that the prices of used stand-ups may increase or stabilize as the population of good condition used units shrinks over time after 2011.

After 2011, Kawasaki and Yamaha literally won't be making them any more.

4 Strokes in standups arent as practical because standups when freestyled can tend to take on a good amount of water in the hull and 4 strokes aren't forgiving when you get water in them like 2 stokes are.

    Combination of two things:
    Emission
    Low sales
They are the two main reasons for no more stuandups. They have the ability to go 4-stroke standups but in this kind of economy with low demand...it's difficult to justify the R&D and retooling cost IMO.

Brp makes etec two strokes that emit less polutants than a 4stroke. The technology does exist.
