1994 SLT 750 CDI replacement options

hi i am new to the jet ski world and have a question about my 94 slt 750. I took it to the shop the other day and was told that i need a new cdi unit. I have looked on ebay and found a few cdi's for a 750 but they all say they are for a 95 modle. My question is are the cdi units from a 94 and a 95 the same ? thanks

    Welcome to the Hulk..

Yes a 95 will work in your 94. Whats your 20? maybe we have a local Polaris member that can verify the dealers findings. Not that i dont trust Dealers.

The 1994 and 1995 SLT CDI's are the same. Check part numbers to make sure the E-Bay seller is correct with his/her description.

    Welcome to the Hulk toddy.

Any 750 CDI from 1994 or 1995 will work for you.

    But NOT from a 1993.

    Yeah, where are you from?

CDI's can't be tested. Only way is replacing them. Maybe someone can give you a loaner to see if that is the bad part.

That's not a common part to fail.

How much for a good used CDI and do you have any coils? I have a 95 -750 that won't start. I tried running a hot lead from battery to coil to see if the coils were generating spark to plugs. All 3 coils blew apart.

    Don't do that!

Just to be clear for others who may think of trying this themselves. Do not connect the battery directly to the ignition coils, not even for 'testing'.

You can check the coils with an ohm-meter.
