Does anyone use their smart phone and a speedo app to find their speed?

I don't have a boat friendly GPS. Has anyone used a speedo app on their phone to find their top speed?

The other choice is my portable car navigation unit that only shows whole numbers.

There is an iPhone app called Max Speed by On-Core software. Free download from the Apple App Store

He is also a forum member on GH, as I recall.

Put your phone in a waterproof case, and put it where it has a clear view of the sky for strong GPS satellite signals.

Yep, I'm on here. It does work better (more "accuracy") with the newer iPhones. My iPhone 4 works much better than my older iPhone 3G does. With better accuracy it dials in faster and the newer phones update more frequently. We actually wrote this app for playing on the Jetskis specifically. Yes, this was for you guys!!!

Just uploaded it and realized it also has altitude.

Next time I am out with the motec I will cross-reference the speed readings with the gps functionality and see how close it is.

    Thanks again.

I use this app also, I like it you can capture the image and text or email the screen shot so if you get a good speed and want to send it you can do it on the spot
