Is there a way find a bad exhaust valve without taking the head off?

My valves are on the way, but I still want to ride until they get here. Did a compression test everything tested great, but that tells me nothing.

If you mean "bad" as referring to the early weak valves, then no, there is no way to know, even if you take the head off. You can get a general idea by looking in the exhaust ports to see how badly corroded they are, but that won't tell you much. Unfortunately, it seems the valve issue is the luck of the draw. Some run forever, some go quickly. It is mainly a consequence of stem corrosion, so if the ski is run consistently all year, you may never have a problem.

you could do a cylinder leak down test if you are worried the valves are not sealing
