    4-tec engine rebuild

Cataloging parts needed for complete engine rebuild on a friend's 2005 RXT with SC washer failure. OEM catalog offers "Rotax engine rebuild kit" but doesn't provide list of parts in kit. Is this kit appropriate for the job?

I believe that is just a gasket kit, the cost of the parts to rebuild a motor with oil pumps, timing chain, bolts and gaskets is close to $1000 and thats if you don't need pistons and rings.

You will need to spend some time looking up all the parts...there's a lot of them. You may also need some specialty tools and mics to measure tolerances. If the motor is apart you may as well do all the main and thrust bearings, seals, pto housing, oil pumps, cam chain and guides, pistons may be close to the limit...may as well change them. The 05 intake and exhaust valves should be changed. You'll need new stretch bolts, etc. Cylinders will need to be honed. New gaskets of course. And the supercharger rebuild kit. You'll have just over $3500 invested. Probably time for a pump rebuild, carbon seal, boot, etc. while you're at it. The question now is...do you want to throw that much money at it? You gotta pay to play.

That sounds about right for the price but dont forget about all the time u are gonna have to spend doing all that..my advice would be get in touch with seadoo directly about one of there remaned engines.the price will probably be about the same but they will give up to 1000 back on a core charge and all the work is already done for u all that is meeded is for you to drop it in.comes with everything even a new s/c.one down fall would b time,ur looking about a months time for them to get the motor inspect it and get ur new one with ur mpney back.
