Thread: Reed intarchange

Does anyone know if yamaha tripple reeds are the same across there line? Ie, will 700 snowmobile reeds fit my 1100, or will GPR reeds fit it?
I was looking at MT's site and they don't list anything for watercraft, but riva is still selling the VF2's? What am I missing here?

???? I am confused with your question.
1200PV reeds won't fit 1200 NPV.
1100s and 1200s have different reed cages, don't know about the reeds themselves.
Bullraider knows more about this.

Exactly. 1100 and 1200npv are the same pattern, so VF2's will fit either. I can't find FV2's or 3's listed for a gp12r or 13r, but I know people are running the, so what are they?
To sum it up, I want to run VF3's, if possible in my raider. What cages fit or can be made to fit?

My Kawi 750 reed petals were exactly the same size and hole pattern as my GP1200 65U reed petals.
The VF-2s I had bolted right up to the 65U
The VF-3s I have are modified around the outside of the cage and use a custom spacer plate to mount in the GPR
Addicted PM me your address I will send you something.

Ok, so the VF3's that everyone is running in there GPR's are not made for the GPR's, they are modified to fit? Interesting. Anyone know what they start life out as?
BTW, I am running a 65U intake(reeds, manifold, carbs) on my 63M raider.
I've been reading up on the VF2's, and from what I can tell, they suck compared to teh 3's.
I have a bridgeport at work and I know how to use it!

If you could duplicate the spacer plate outside periphery and hole pattern and do the pocket like the GPR it might work. You may be able to buy the cages already cut from Fercho or Island racing. I have another reed spacer I would loan you for dimensioning or if I was real nice I would model it up for you and send you the drawing. I would measure mine but I just installed them and am not going to pull them off for awhile.

just buy the kit from fernando or island racing the cages are $108 a piece X 3 =$324 plus SS hardware maybee $10-20 plus a pice of aluminium and gaskets just pay the $500 and get the kit! just my opinion, I have a mill and some things are just not worth the effort!

I didn't think those guys made the kits for the 63m. Even then, i need something to do over the winter.
Bill, don't worry about the dimentions. The carbs are coming off again soon, and i might as well pull the reeds to inspect them. Thanks though!

R33 Unfortunately the GP and GPR are not the same or it would be simple to just buy the kit.
