All you timing experts take a look before I button things down.

got my cam and crank tools from jerry, locked crank then locked cam. Lined up 1503 marks, installed my tensioner and this is how she looks. Have not installed the 3 cam bolts yet.

    Does it all look correct?

install the cam sproket bolts but don't loctite them. I'm not sure if you have a way to turn the engine over at the crank. you can either use a 185 prop tool at the pto or remove the cone on the pump and turn it over with an allen. remove both the crank and cam tool. turn over the crank 2 rotations counterclockwise until the crank tool lines up again. if your cam tool drops in , your good to go. at that point, you can decide if you want to advance or retard your cam timing. this is the best way I've found to test these engines because without the rockers in, even if you mess up, you won't do any damage.

well from the first pic showing the plastic gear cover its looks like it is one tooth to far towards the exhasut IMO.....and from the pics u just posted that can be blown up it justifies what im saying because the bolt holes are to one end of the cam gear bolt slots....in ALL the motors i have done the cam gear plastic cover alignment marks should be even with the block OR slightly towards the intake and the cam gear bolts holes should be DEAD CENTER of the gear bolt slots.....do u have a crank & can gear locking tol in the motor........BINESS!!!!!!!!

Move the gear one tooth clock wise like REID stated and take a pic.

I knew you were using your phone, just giving you a hard time.

Did Erik deck you head and how much?

Yes, they were both in and locked. It looked like two were close and one was off a tad to me lol.
