I believe JoeBlo had a set of cylinders he was running flat top Kawis in and it was sleeved. But the stock cylinder can be bored to any reasonable size and Nikasil plated check with Millenium Technologies or US Chrome for the plating.

The kawi pistons have to have the wrist pin bosses bored to fit the gpr wristpins, which leaves the piston weak.If you run tripple pipes there will be stress cracks around the bosses by 15 hrs might last a little longer on a single pipe. All the top builders will tell you go with the oem 1300 piston. Some will say Pro-x,but they have a higher carbon content and tend to explode at the slightest hint of detonation.I dont know if any one has tried machining the top of an oem 1300 to make it a flat top,but that might be a better approach than the short life of a Kx 500 piston,if your dead set on a flat top.Riva makes a flat top,I think R&D does too.Have the cyl re-nicked after the bore. The nickel allows the oil to stick to the cylinders better, much better heat transfer for cooling, and without a sleeve you get more transfer port area.Hope this helps

Bo DuPriest used to have the oem pistons machined flat. Try contacting him through Cody Hawkins. Better way to go IMO.

I thought that might work, just had never heard of it.

Hey Duke, since your from Titusville,is that guy who used to do the red top conversion on carbs still around? He ported a GP1200 cyl for me back in 98.Top notch work too!Just wondering if he was still around.

Haven't seen Kevin in a long time. I did most of his port work back then
so thanks. The carbs that he did were based on Bo's design and soon copied by a company called Blackjack. I think Bo has a new version but
can't swear to it. Bo knows his stuff and can get you in the right direction.
