    Stage 1 results

I have the following stage 1 mods on my 2010 FZS: R&D grate & pump shoe kit, Riva Power filter kit, intake manifold upgrade (1lb boost), impeller (solas 13/22R)

A buddy of mine has the identical 2010 FZS and the only mod he has is the DIY Free-flow exhaust. We tested today NUMEROUS times and I have about 1 mph on him on the big end. However, when we go from a dead stop and race about 1/3 mile, I beat him by about 1 1/2 ski lengths. We are almost dead even up to about 30mph and I SLOWLY pull on him.

At the end of last season, he was bone stock and all I had was the intake grate and I was slightly faster than him (beat him by about a ski length at our 1/3 mile race spot)

Any thoughts? Does this sound about right? I didn't know if I am too restricted by not doing the free-flow exhaust????

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Chuck, check out my greenhulk FZR build up page. I have radar graphs showing the improvement of the free flow exhaust over just a power filter and intake manifold upgrade. There was a .23 second improvement from idle to 60 mph once I added the free flow exhaust.

Exhaust and ride plate (shimmed properly) and you'll kick his ass royally.

Jerry mentioned .23 seconds for the exhaust and that can translate into a nice little distance.

Thanks guys. One odd thing is that when I take off, it seems like I am hitting the rev limiter. While accelerating 20 mph and up, I am fine and sitting at about 7600 rpms. When launching, there is one slight hiccup. I got the impeller installed at the dealership. People have talked about pitching a prop. How does this work? Any ideas? Thanks.

Your results sound good based on your mods. I have a pretty similar set up. I would recommend an aftermarket RPM gauge such as the Tiny Tach because you may need to repitch your prop to get optimal performance. Here's a write up I did on props for my stage 1 fzr.

Taking the butt plug out of the intake manifold really helps....you might look into the jim modded vx plate for some speed.
