does anyone know how to test a rxp stator with an ohm meter
i may have a bad stator, dont want to pull the motor out for no reason. rectifier is gettin 12 volts, volt meter say's 12.5 volts when ski is running so i know its not charging.

I didn't read that other thread... but there are 3 tests that you want to perform:
1. Check resistance between all 3 yellow stator wires, unplug stator and check 1-2, 1-3, 2-3
ohm readings should be between .1 - 1.0
2. With the engine running, stator unplugged test the 3 wires in the same three sequences mentioned above.
Set your meter for AC voltage, you should see 24 VAC on all three readings.
3. Set your meter to ohms, and attach the ground lead to a solid engine ground.
Check all three yellow wires for resistance to ground, there should be no resistance to ground.
I just had a stator issue where test 1 & 2 were perfect, but I found all three windings shorted to ground.

the engine sat with loads of salt water in it. rebuilt entire engine bud never cheacked stator. 2 wires were corroded off it.
